About us
House Martins Care is a small family run service where staff communicate using British Sign Language. The two Directors have many years of experience as social workers with first hand experience with the Deaf community. The Registered Manger of the service has grown up with a Father who is deaf and understands the culture and the barriers faced by Deaf people in every day life. As well as using British Sign Language to level 6 he also has experience as a social worker and has worked for House Martins for over 25 years.
House Martins Care began by offering small scale, specialist residential care for deaf adults with learning disabilities in 1991 by opening a 5 bedroom home. In 1993 we opened a second home and this quickly became full. We now also support deaf people whether they have a learning disability or not, in the community and in their own homes. We are proud of our reputation for quality and of our excellent inspection record. The management team all have extensive experience as Social Workers and are dedicated to the provision of high quality care.
The Residential Care service consists of two well maintained family size dwelling houses in suburban Salford, Greater Manchester. The two properties are a little over half a mile apart and blend in to the community. Each of the properties is registered to take up to five people accommodated in single rooms. We offer a high staff ratio to enable supported individuals to make real choices in their daily lives. We recognise that consistency in staff support is related to the delivery of good quality care and positive outcomes. Our low staff turnover is one of our big strengths and reflects our continued focus on valuing all members of the team. We have never used agency staff and do not intend to.
We have experience and support people with CHARGE syndrome. Our staff team are skilled in this area and we have provided this support for many years. CHARGE poses many challenges for the person however those challenges can be overcome with the right support. We have facilitated many years of successful work in this area and it has included paid employment in the local community. Please get in touch for further information.
Our supported living services consist of staff supporting Deaf people in the community. This can be in their own tenancies or can be us supporting them from their family home. It can be an individual or can be supporting groups of people residing in the same accommodation. This can be as little as a couple of hours a day to twenty four hour support.
